Introducing the Interns
We are so pleased to introduce you to the newest members of the Buddings team – our intrepid interns, Sara King and Duncan Geiser.
They have both come to us from their own professions, deciding to try their hands at childcare, as a change of pace.
Sara has been working in fitness training since 2012, when she first got involved with the field when she was training for an endurance competition. Three years later, she runs her private training business in the early mornings and evenings, and joins the Buddings team on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for the experience portion of her internship. It runs until the middle of June, covering a number of childcare specific training, on preschooler behaviour, establishing needs and boundaries, and Childcare Basics.
Duncan took his training in bookkeeping, and works on his projects from home, during the evenings. When his little niece (a Buddings grad) turned 2, and then 3 years old, he became interested in learning more about what makes toddlers tick. He has taken some basic training through the Westcoast Childcare Resource and Referral centre, and joins us on Tuesdays and Thursdays to put his new knowledge into practice.
We’re super excited to welcome them, and look forward to nurturing their interest and enthusiasm. Of course, they will always be supervised, and especially for the next eight weeks, they will be partnering up with a senior teacher buddy, working together closely to review training materials and answer all their questions.
Changing career tracts is a big decision, and we’re pleased to offer them the opportunity to explore their interest in childcare. Over the next few weeks, we’ll let you know how the internship is going, and if you have any questions, please let us know.
