What a beautiful day for a party!
Our Summer Fiesta happened last weekend, at Jonathan Rogers Park, and we have hugs and thank yous to everyone who stopped by.
To Lisa, Ivan, and Adriana, DJ Spinout, Veronika, Isabel, Jenny, Christa, Sarah “Wheels” MacDonald, and MC Johanna, for making it magic, and all the kids and families who came out to play.
Our green screen photobooth was a hilarious success, and Isabel created some beautiful memories for everyone who participated (which I have distorted and cropped to make them fit. The ones she shared are perfect):
There were lots more, and we’re sharing them here with permission, but if you attended the party, and would like access to the whole collection, please get in touch.
People dressed up, they got into it, and the results speak for themselves, but they were competing for a week long accommodation at Sweet Paw Paw in beautiful Barbados, so there was reason to put in the effort. So the three finalists (in no particular order) are… da da da:
The Urquila Family, of Machu Picchu, Julia and her family, for their many hats, and the Edmondson family, for riding that pony. 🙂
Now all we have to do is choose a winner…
Happy Boxes for Venezuela
Finally, it was all fun and games in the sunshine at Jonathan Rogers Park, here in Vancouver, but as you may have heard, our friends in Venezuela are having a hard time.
Our teacher Isabel has told us how the economic collapse there has meant an increase in the inflation rate of over 1000% in 2016, making necessary supplies, like medicine and cleaning products completely unavailable.
But we can help!
Through the donations to our party and online, and a program through Amazon Cargo, a shipping company based in Miami, we are sending two Cajita Feliz (literally “happy box”) care packages of food and household goods to Fundacion UMA, a charity program for foster kids where Isabel’s mother volunteers.
They cost $99US each, and we raised $260!
Thank you to all the families who came, and put some money in the pot, and even (especially) those who have taken the time to read some of the links about this situation.
Of course there are problems happening all over the world, and even here in Vancouver. We can’t do everything, but thanks to your help, we have been able to do something.
That feels really good. 🙂
If you missed the party, we definitely missed having you, but there will be more parties. From everyone at Buddings, we hope you’re having an amazing summer, and can’t wait to see you again in September.
