Breathe in, breathe out...
A fourth wave, unrest in the middle East, and a climate emergency that can't be denied: after that hot vax summer, the world is just as crazy as it ever was. The overwhelm is real, but panicking isn't going to help.
A deep breath will!
This fall, we're taking a moment to collect ourselves, figuring out what makes us feel calm, and filling our tummies with the warm comforts of autumn. Move slowly, ground yourself, and find balance with us this fall.
Check in at both centres from Sept. 7 - Nov. 30, 2021 for peaceful practice and fall fun.
The Buddings World
Every season, our teachers present a specially-structured educational program, to fit the social context. Through sharing and team work, children develop and practice the skills and habits they'll use in kindergarten (and forever):
- Making introductions
- Taking turns
- Sitting for circle time
- Using polite manners
- Creative expression
- Spending time outside
- Science experiments
- Sharing and reflecting
- .... and more!
This season, our classes are:
Mondays - Find Balance
What makes you feel calm? Some colours, and smells, music, crystals... The ocean...
The world can be a hectic place, so knowing how to find peace, and balance, is an important skill, and it's never too early to start practicing! From taking deep breaths to counting to 10, on Mondays this fall, we'll be testing out some strategies for slowing things down.
Tuesdays - Natural Art
All that glitters is not gold. We may feel drawn to razzle dazzle, but working with natural materials can connect us to a deeper creativity. The world provides us with the most beautiful patterns, if we just step back and look.
Wednesdays - Mindful Movement
How we move our bodies can affect how we feel. Loud, fast music makes us wanna jump, jump! And calm, slow sounds help us tap into the universal core that we carry inside us. Follow the three-legged dogs downward, upward, and through a sequence of classes to strength our bodies and our minds.
Thursdays - Autumn Recips
Pumpkins ripen! Quick, quick! Apples, corn, pick, pick! The harvest season brings all our favourite foods, and nothing is more comforting, or satisfying, than a hearty meal you've made from scratch! Snack times are heating up! Join us to see what's cooking!
Fridays - Tree Appreciation
Our province is one of the world's most important ecosystems: a rainforest full of creatures and plants that provide air for us to breath, and a unique and diverse society that works together! The kelp forests of our seas are another amazing ecosystem, and there is life in the deserts in the interior as well. This fall, we're learning what makes them different, and what they all need from us, to stay healthy!
